with Mike Gatto, Former CA Assembly Member and Business Attorney
790 KABC, April 22, 2017
Former California Assembly Member Mike Gatto is in studio for an in-depth interview on Gurvey's Law. Mike will talk about some of the bills he authored, which are having an impact on Californians, as well as discuss the legislative bill process, including special interest lobbying, #GovernorJerryBrown's politics, and tell his personal story of his fathers's murder, a crime that remains unsolved. Joseph Gatto was a well-liked artist who spent decades teaching at schools across Los Angeles. He was a patriarch — not just to his close-knit family, but to a vast community of artists, former students and neighbors. Mike Gatto teamed up with Kerri Kasem, daughter of Casey Kasem, and introduced new legislation that would provide reasonable accommodations for adult children who want to visit their parents, and provide children the right to know when an ailing parent’s health becomes worse or if the parent dies. The proposed legislation, AB 1085 would provide legal remedies when children from previous marriages are being denied access to a parent by their parent’s current spouse or by another family member.
