Facebook's New Posting Policies for Political Content

with David Chavern, CEO New Media Alliance and Jonathan Kanter, Antitrust Attorney

790 KABC, July 7, 2018

Have you seen fewer “sponsored” ads on your Facebook feed? It’s probably likely that you aren’t even seeing this post, even though you used to see so many ads for Gurvey’s Law episodes in the past. There’s a good reason for that. Facebook's new “advertisement” policy does not distinguish between journalism, or entertainment promotions, and political content. Everything you post on Facebook now seems to violate its political content limitations. Thank you, Russia! Can social media giants like Facebook get away with this, even in an era of #FakeNews and free speech regulation? To answer that question, and others, Alan Gurvey and Kerri Kasem talk to two guests this weekend: David Chavern, the CEO of News Media Alliance; and antitrust attorney Jonathan Kanter from Paul Weiss. Don’t miss these insightful discussions on Saturdays on KABC-AM 790 TalkRadio and KABC.com.
